We are ready for FSC Certificate

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Logo

Approximately six months ago we had to apply for a Certificate of FSC, they send a team to audit us, and now we are still in their control in the manufacture of furniture to FSC standards. They introduced to us SystemChain-of-Custody (COC), At present we have 80% in this certification process, and we will get the FSC certificate in December 2010

The reason why PT. President Furniture applied FSC because Some of our customers in Europe said that the government in European countries will require that any furniture made from FSC certified wood may impose.

And here is The FSC issue that we copy from other website

“The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international body accreditation of certification bodies to ensure authenticity of their claims. In all cases, the certification process will begin voluntarily by forest owners and managers seek the services of certification bodies. The goal of FSC is promote environmentally responsible, socially and economically beneficial sustainable forest management in the world, creating the world recognized standards and principles of Forest Stewardship. ”

Or, in layman’s terms, is a global non-governmental organizations has created a series of guidelines which, if followed, will help reduce negative impact on economic, environmental and social impacts of forest management.

Now, Reasons is a good idea to use FSC products:

1. This is good for the environment.

Guidelines for FSC certification guarantees that forests are not broken to the point of degradation and natural systems remain intact. Under these guidelines, the forest can not be collected without purpose or carelessly. They must be registered to maintain the natural flow habitat, economic viability (for all forest products) and to avoid use of hazardous chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides. GMOs also prohibited under FSC guidelines.

2. This is good for the people.

Part of this certification is to ensure that all local, regional and more global and / or agreements are followed. This is to prevent illegal transportation or collection of goods. The guidelines also ensure that indigenous peoples and workers’ rights are maintained and respected.

3. That’s good for the forest.

These principles are designed to allow forests to be harvested in such a to encourage regeneration and growth in the forest. This creates longevity and healthy habitat for our natural resources.

There so many company in Indonesia, specially in Jepara who produces teak garden furniture, so if you have typical not easy to trust with someone or company, you should go traveling to Jepara, Indonesia. And minimum you should stay in Jepara about 7 days. In 3 days you could see around Jepara you could visiting about 10 company. when you visiting the teak garden furniture company, you should make sure that they have Kiln Dried, that is to make sure that the company produces furniture from Dry wood maximum Moisture Content (MC) Level 12%.

2. Prices and Quality
There have cheap prices and high and also reasonable prices, the prices is depending on the quality. in Generally there have 2 kind of quality and prices, low quality is represent C grade. Since year 2000 Jepara produces C grade but look like A grade (the color uniform and looking good), but actually it’s C grade. So why it’s look like A grade? people do with treatment (chemical). so don’t be cheated. how to know? just see the prices. usually the prices 25-30% Lower than Normal Prices. This furniture is looks good but not strong as A grade and be careful, you will got many quality problem with this . If you come to Jepara I will explain it more. Trust us we will never cheat you with this (guaranty).

3. Lead Time Production
The best lead time production for making teak garden furniture 45 days, because to make dry the wood, minimum we have to put the wood in the OVEN (Kilnd Dried) about 2 weeks. So prepare your self to place the order long time before, this important for you to have good quality products.
